Headquarters and Headquarter Company
December 3, 1968

Forward Area: 1-20 Infantry Headquarters is located at LZ Volunteer and will continued to work with ARVN units their Area of Operations in OPERATION VERNON LAKE II.

Rear Area: Battalion Rear continued their Mission of general support for the battalion and continued their Security Mission for LZ Bronco. At 0825hrs Bravo Company 39 Engineer at BS630828 found a 10 pound mine on highway 1 and destroyed in place, left a crater which engineer filled.


Alpha Company
December 3, 1968

Alpha Company continued their Security Mission for LZ Cork, PFC Ped Acosta Parez was evac sick to 312th Evac Hospital at 1400hrs.


Bravo Company
December 3, 1968

Activities appear very light in the Song Re Valley, Delta Company receiving sniper fire in the morning resulting in 1 WHA. The heaviest engagement of the day occurred when Bravo Company engaged approximately 6 VC when they set off a trip flare while probing the Night Defense Position with negative assessments.


Charlie Company
December 3, 1968

Bravo Company and Charlie Company continued to contact Combat Sweep and Clear Operation in their Area of Operation with, light activities.


Delta Company
December 3, 1968

Delta Company continued to conduct Combat Search and Clear operations in their Area of Operation. At 1155hrs Delta Company at BS346604 received small arms fire from northwest across the river with 1 US WHA (E) has sucking chest wound, fired Artillery with negative assessment and Dust Off Completed by Command and Control Helicopter at 1210hrs. At 1505hrs Delta Company at BS343604 found 2 huts inside found 3000 pounds of polished rice, 7 green uniforms, some documents, 21 RPG-7 rounds and evac to LZ Cork, 171 B-40 rockets destroyed, 21 82mm Mortar rounds destroyed and 3,200 Ak-47 rounds evac to LZ Cork.


Echo Company
December 3, 1968

Echo Company is located at LZ Volunteer where Battalion Forward is and coordinates with the Battalion Rear Elements and Base Defense elements on LZ Volunteer. The 4.2 Platoon is located on LZ Cork where they continue to provide direct fire support for the 1-20 Infantry Battalion with Recon Platoon providing Security for the (1-20 Infantry TOC).
